Mika Be Brave

“Mika (Brave)” teaches a lesson about overcoming fear through the story of a young kitten. Using animals this way is a traditional technique for conveying a moral. There are also some advanced vocabulary words that students may not know.  “Gammy,” is a form of “Grammy,” or grandmother. The phrase “‘fraidy cat,” is an idiomatic expression referring to someone who is afraid and which is here also used literally to describe the cat.
